Description
Unlike hand-knotted rugs, kilim rugs are woven by hand and do not have a raised wool pile, which makes them flatter and rougher. This simpler manufacturing process often makes them more affordable. They are lighter and can be used on both sides. Originally from Persia, they are also produced in Afghanistan. They are characterised by their simple, linear patterns, which are created by the weaving technique.
