Description
Kilim rugs are characterised by their hand-woven production, in contrast to hand-knotted rugs with raised wool pile. They are flatter and rougher, which makes them more cost-effective. Their versatility allows them to be used on both sides and they are lighter compared to other types of rugs. Originally from Persia, they are now also frequently produced in Afghanistan. Their characteristic, linear patterns are created by a special weaving technique.
