Description
Kilim rugs differ significantly from hand-knotted rugs in that they are woven by hand and do not have a high wool pile. This makes them flatter and rougher to the touch, as well as less expensive to manufacture. They are lighter and can be used on both sides. Originally from Persia, they are now also frequently manufactured in Afghanistan. Kelim rugs are characterised by their simple, linear patterns, which are created using a special weaving technique. These rugs are not only decorative, but also practical and robust, making them ideal for a variety of uses in modern living and working environments.
