Description
Kilim rugs are woven by hand, unlike hand-knotted varieties without high wool pile, which makes them flatter and rougher and reduces production costs. Their versatility allows them to be used on both sides. Originally from Persia, they are now also manufactured in Afghanistan. They are characterised by their simple, linear patterns, which are created by the weaving technique. Due to the less complex manufacturing process, kilims are generally less expensive. They are also notable for their lightness, which makes them easy to transport and handle.
