Description
Kilim rugs are characterised by their hand weaving, in contrast to hand-knotted rugs with high wool pile. They are flatter, rougher and cheaper to manufacture. Due to their lower weight, they can be used flexibly on both sides. Originally from Persia, they are now also frequently manufactured in Afghanistan. Their designs are typically simple and straightforward, due to the special weaving technique.
