Description
Kilim rugs differ fundamentally from hand-knotted rugs in that they are woven by hand and do not have a high wool pile, which makes them flatter and rougher. This makes them cheaper to produce. Another advantage is their lower weight and the fact that they can be used on both sides. Originally from Persia, they are now also widely produced in Afghanistan. Their patterns are usually simple and straightforward due to the special weaving technique.
