Description
Kilim rugs differ significantly from hand-knotted rugs in that they are woven by hand and do not have a high wool pile. This makes them flatter and rougher to the touch, which reduces their production costs. This characteristic makes them lighter and allows them to be used on both sides. Originally from Persia, they are now also widely produced in Afghanistan. Their patterns are typically simple and straightforward, due to their special weaving technique.
