Description
Unlike hand-knotted carpets, kilim carpets are woven by hand without a high wool pile, making them flatter and rougher. Their production is less complex and therefore less expensive. They are also lighter and can be used on both sides. Originally from Persia, they are now also produced in India. Their patterns are simple and straightforward due to the special weaving technique. This makes them popular floor coverings with a cultural history and practical application in modern living spaces worldwide.
