Description
Kilim rugs differ significantly from hand-knotted rugs as they are woven by hand and do not have a high wool pile. This makes them flatter and rougher, which also reduces their production costs. One advantage is their lightness and the fact that they can be used on both sides. Originally from Persia, they are now also widely manufactured in India. Kelims are characterised by simple, linear patterns created by their special weaving technique.
