Description
Kilim rugs differ significantly from hand-knotted varieties as they are woven by hand and do not have a high wool pile, which makes them flatter and rougher. This means they are generally less expensive and lighter, and can be used on both sides. Originally from Persia, they are now also manufactured in India. Their patterns are usually simple and straightforward, due to the special weaving technique. Kilim rugs are known for their less complex production compared to hand-knotted rugs and have a long tradition in the craft of weaving.
