Description
Kilim rugs differ fundamentally from hand-knotted rugs in that they are woven by hand without a high wool pile, which makes them flatter and rougher. Due to their less elaborate construction, they are often less expensive. Another advantage is their lower weight and the fact that they can be used on both sides. Originally from Persia, kilims are now also frequently manufactured in India. Their patterns are usually simple and straightforward, due to the special weaving technique.
