Description
Kilim rugs differ significantly from hand-knotted varieties in that they are woven by hand and do not have a high wool pile. This makes them flatter and more robust than traditional wool rugs. Their production is less complex, which makes them more cost-effective. Another advantage is their low weight and the fact that they can be used on both sides. Originally from Persia, kilims are now also manufactured in India. They are characterised by simple, straight patterns created by a special weaving technique.
