Kilim rugs differ from hand-knotted rugs in that they are hand-woven without a high wool pile, which makes them flatter and rougher. This makes them more affordable and lighter. They can be used on both sides and originally come from Persia, but are now also produced in India. Their simple, straightforward patterns are characteristic of their weaving technique.
