Kilim rugs differ significantly from hand-knotted varieties as they are woven by hand and do not have a high wool pile. This makes them flatter, rougher and less expensive. They are lighter and can be used on both sides. Originally from Persia, they are now also manufactured in India. Their patterns are simple and straightforward, due to the weaving technique.
