Description
Kilim rugs differ significantly from hand-knotted varieties in that they are hand-woven, resulting in a flat, robust character without a high wool pile. This makes them more affordable and lighter than traditional rugs. Originally from Persia, they are now also increasingly manufactured in Afghanistan. Their simple, straightforward patterns are created using a special weaving technique. Another advantage is their versatility: they can be used on both sides. Kelim rugs are characterised by their elaborate handcrafting, which nevertheless results in an efficient and charming rug solution, ideal for both modern and traditional living spaces.
