Description
Kilim rugs differ significantly from hand-knotted rugs in that they are woven by hand. Without a raised wool pile, they are flatter and rougher. Their less complex production makes them more affordable. Another advantage is their low weight, and they can be used on both sides. Originally from Persia, they are now also frequently manufactured in Afghanistan. Kelim rugs are characterised by simple, linear patterns created by the weaving technique. These rugs offer an attractive and inexpensive alternative to the more elaborate, hand-knotted wool rugs and are well suited to a variety of interior styles.
