Kilim carpets are woven by hand without a high wool pile, making them flatter and rougher than hand-knotted carpets. This simpler production method makes them more cost-effective. They are lighter and can be used on both sides, which means they require less frequent washing. Originally from Persia, they are also produced in India and feature simple, linear patterns due to their weaving technique.
