Kilim rugs are woven by hand without a thick wool pile, making them flatter and rougher than hand-knotted rugs. This simpler construction makes them more affordable. They are lighter and can be used on both sides, which makes them easier to care for and minimises washing problems. Originally from Persia, they are also produced in India and feature simple, linear patterns created by their weaving technique.
