Description
Kilim rugs differ significantly from hand-knotted rugs in that they are woven by hand and do not have a high wool pile, making them flatter and rougher. This simpler manufacturing process makes them more cost-effective. They are also lighter and can be used on both sides, which makes them easier to handle and care for and reduces washing problems. Originally from Persia, kilims are also manufactured in India. They are characterised by their simple, linear patterns, which are created by the weaving technique.
