Description
Kilim rugs differ significantly from hand-knotted varieties in that they are woven by hand and do not have a high wool pile, making them flatter and rougher. This simple manufacturing method makes them more cost-effective. They are lighter and can be used on both sides, which simplifies care and minimises washing problems. Originally from Persia, they are also manufactured in India and are characterised by their simple, linear patterns, which are created by the weaving technique.
