Description
Hand-woven kilim rugs differ significantly from hand-knotted varieties in that they are flat and do not have a high wool pile. They are less labour-intensive to produce and are therefore often less expensive. These rugs are lighter and can be used on both sides. Originally from Persia, kilims are now mainly produced in Afghanistan. They are characterised by simple, linear patterns created by their weaving technique.
