Description
These kilim rugs differ significantly from hand-knotted varieties as they are woven by hand. As a result, they do not have a high wool pile and are often flatter and rougher. Their production is less complex, which means they are generally less expensive. One advantage is their lightness and the fact that they can be used on both sides. Originally from Persia, kilims are now also widely produced in Afghanistan. They are characterised by simple, linear patterns created by their weaving technique.
