Gabbeh rugs are hand-knotted in Iran and India. "Gabbeh" means "raw" in Farsi and describes a simple, rustic rug style. Since the early 1990s, they have been popular as a more relaxed alternative to traditional Persian carpets. Gabbehs have a thick, luxurious pile, many colours and feature cool, geometric and animal motifs, abstract or concrete. Usually made of wool on wool, they vary in size from small mats to large carpets and are suitable for any room.
