Description
Gabbeh carpets are knotted in Iran and India. The term ‘Gabbeh’ means ‘raw’ in Farsi and describes a simple, rustic carpet style. Since the early 1990s, they have become increasingly popular as a relaxed alternative to traditional Persian carpets, which are often associated with formal interior design. Gabbehs are characterised by a thick, luxurious pile, a variety of colours and cool geometric and animal motifs. Their patterns can be abstract or representational, often depicting animals or people. Usually made of wool on wool, they vary in size from small mats to large rugs and are suitable for any room in the house.
