Gabbeh rugs from Iran and India, knotted since the early 1990s, offer a folk alternative to traditional Persian rugs. The name "Gabbeh" means "raw" in Farsi and describes their simple, rustic nature. These rugs are characterised by thick pile, diverse colours and cool geometric and animal motifs, either abstract or figurative. Mostly made of wool on wool, they vary in size from small mats to large rugs and are suitable for any room in the house.
