Gabbeh rugs, knotted in Iran and India, are known for their simplicity and rusticity. The name "Gabbeh" means "raw" in Farsi. Since the early 1990s, they have gained popularity as a relaxed alternative to traditional Persian rugs, which are often associated with formal interior design. Gabbehs are characterised by thick, luxurious pile, diverse colours and cool, geometric or animal motifs. Usually made of wool, they range in size from small mats to large rugs, suitable for any room in the house.
