Gabbeh rugs are knotted in Iran and India. The term "Gabbeh" means "raw" in Farsi and describes simple, rustic rugs. Since the 1990s, they have been gaining popularity as a more relaxed alternative to traditional Persian carpets. Gabbeh carpets are characterised by their thick, luxurious pile, a wide range of colours and bold geometric and animal motifs. They are usually made of wool and are available in various sizes to suit any room in the house.
