Description
Gabbeh carpets, knotted in Iran and India, mean “raw” in Persian and embody a simple, rustic style. Since the early 1990s, they have been gaining popularity as a more relaxed, folk-inspired alternative to traditional Persian carpets. These rugs are characterised by thick, luxurious pile, a diverse colour palette and bold geometric or animal motifs. Patterns can be abstract or figurative, often featuring depictions of animals or people. Made from wool on wool, they vary in size from small mats to large rugs, ideal for any room in the house.
