The term "Gabbeh" means "raw" in Farsi and describes simple, rustic carpets. Since the early 1990s, they have become increasingly popular as a more relaxed alternative to traditional Persian rugs. Gabbeh rugs have thick pile, diverse colours and bold geometric patterns, often featuring abstract or figurative motifs such as animals or people. They are made from wool or sometimes cotton and come in a variety of sizes to suit any room.
