Gabbeh means "raw" in Farsi and describes simple, rustic rugs that have been popular since the early 1990s as a relaxed alternative to traditional Persian rugs. They have thick, luxurious pile, a variety of colours and bold geometric patterns, often with abstract or figurative motifs such as animals or people. Mostly made of wool, they are also available in cotton and other materials, in sizes ranging from mats to large carpets suitable for any room.
