Gabbeh, Farsi for "raw", have been popular since the 1990s as a relaxed, folk alternative to traditional Persian rugs. They have thick pile, many colours and bold geometric patterns, often with abstract or figurative motifs such as animals or people. Mostly made of wool, they are also available in cotton or other materials, in sizes ranging from small mats to large carpets, suitable for any room.
