Description
Gabbeh means “raw” in Farsi and describes simple, rustic carpets. Since the 1990s, they have been gaining popularity as a relaxed, folk alternative to traditional Persian carpets. Gabbeh carpets have a thick, luxurious pile, a wide variety of colours and bold geometric patterns. The designs are often abstract or figurative, with motifs such as animals or people. They are usually made of wool, sometimes cotton or other materials. Gabbeh rugs vary in size, from small mats to large carpets, and fit into any room.
