Description
Gabbeh means “raw” in Farsi and describes simple, rustic carpets. They have been gaining popularity since the 1990s as they are a more relaxed alternative to traditional Persian carpets. Gabbeh rugs have a thick, luxurious pile, diverse colours and bold, geometric patterns that often depict animals or people. They are usually made of wool, but sometimes also of cotton or other materials. Gabbeh rugs vary in size from small mats to large carpets and fit into any room in the house.
