The term "Gabbeh" means "raw" in Farsi and refers to simple, rustic carpets. Since the early 1990s, they have been gaining popularity as a relaxed, folk alternative to traditional Persian carpets. Gabbeh rugs are known for their thick, luxurious pile, a variety of colours and bold, geometric patterns. They can feature abstract or figurative motifs, often with animals or people. Mostly made of wool, there are also variants made of cotton or other materials, in sizes ranging from mats to large rugs for any room.
