Description
Afghanistan has a long tradition of carpet weaving, especially in the north of the country. Among the best known and finest carpets from this region are the hand-knotted Mamluk, Kahl Mohammadi and Mauri carpets. These Afghan oriental carpets are characterised by their warm, dark red colours and distinctive Göl ornaments. The Göl patterns are octagonal and are also known as elephant feet due to their shape. These unique design elements give the carpets their distinctive, traditional style. The craftsmanship and high-quality materials used in their manufacture underline both the special quality and durability of the carpets, making them prized works of art.
